Promo bikes around London

Posted on March 09, 2010 by Ash

If you live in London you might have come across some of our cool promo bikes riding around the city on Thursday and Friday last week.

Belly and Brain will be touring other cities soon, so watch out for them on your local high street!

Have you tried…Biryani?

Posted on March 04, 2010 by Irfan

You can’t beat a curry, but there are times when a vindaloo and fourteen poppadums are a whole world of wrong.  Maybe you went large last night, and now your insides are trying to get out.  Or perhaps your date expects a little sophistication (it’s early days).  What you need is a biryani: an aromatic dish of rice with chicken or lamb.  With all the flavour and none of the pain, it’s as mild as the Dalai Lama.

We need a Marketing Analyst

Posted on March 03, 2010 by Sam

When you play the “Which 24 character are you?” game on Facebook do you come out as super genius Chloe O’Brian? We have the perfect job for you. OK maybe her life is not quite as full of ass-kicking and torture as Jack Bauer’s. But where would Jack be without Chloe hacking the mainframe, transferring code red protocols and decrypting the 19bit memory stick thats just been run over by a truck?

He’d be dead. Or in a Chinese jail.

So how does this relate to Just-Eat? Well, we are creating an exciting new Marketing Analyst role to analyse our action packed Marketing ass-kicking. If you’re a super genius with a math/science degree (and think you can cope with a team where this kind of blog post is considered ‘hillarious’) then download your code red CV protocol over on our job mainframe thing. We’ll even let you take part in our Friday torture-the-terrorist hour.

Bernard Cribbins latest work of art

Bernard Cribbins: Actor, Rockstar, Womble, Doctor Who’s Christmas Saviour and artist.

We asked the great man to be Belly & Brain’s Dad by voicing our TV campaign recently. Our script was a bit of a mouthful, so Mr Cribbins needed to rewrite to suit his style on the fly. just for the curious, here are his notes + a rather excellent sketch of a duck…

Silly Belly! Service update…

Posted on February 27, 2010 by David

Wow so I guess that proves TV works!

It is never easy to admit you’ve made a mistake but honesty is always the best policy so here I go… Last night as part of our ongoing TV campaign we had lots of great commercials running. Sadly between 18.45 and 20:00 we were unable to keep up with the demand on our site and it fell over. We operated more like Belly than Brain!

As a result lots of you tried to grab a lovely takeaway from Just-Eat and were unable to get through. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience, hassle and disappointment you had if you were a returning customer or trying us for the first time.

There is no excuse and you can rest assured that we are fixing this quickly. We will make sure that the huge demand that we are experiencing will be met.  As the meerkats said in their advert: we are now fixing the ‘computerthingameebob’ to make sure we have the capacity to deliver you a takeaway.

Amazing to see the power of television though and great to know so many people want to order a takeaway through Just-Eat.co.uk. Give it another go – it is the smart way…honestly!

Best ‘Belly & Brain’ caption

Posted on February 25, 2010 by Irfan

Thanks for all your entries in our recent “Belly & Brain” best caption competition. Some were extremely bizarre, but the best caption has to be from Nicola. Sooooo the best caption ever is….

You get the door brain, I’m a little stuck

George Clooney Loves Just-Eat

Posted on February 24, 2010 by Ash

George Clooney Loves Just-EatWho would have ever thought that Hollywood heart throb George Clooney was at one of  local restaurants recently in London. (Is it really him?!)

The star of the recent hit movie “Up in the Air” was taking a stroll when he bumped into one our of sales guys who happened to have one of our streamers in hand. As you can see from the picture to the right Clooney (the lookalike) was happy to hold us up high!

Bumped into a Hollywood or Bollywood star or celebrity yourself? Think you look like someone famous? Send us some pics we will put them up in one of our blog posts!

Which EastEnder would you like a takeaway with?

Posted on February 17, 2010 by Mat

This Friday those jolly-old EastEnders celebrate 25 years of cheering us up with their almost daily dose of hilarity. To join in the celebrations we asked you guys “Which EastEnders character from the last 25 years you would most like to enjoy a tasty Just-Eat takeaway with?”.

Our favourite choice of Wellard the Dog sadly didnt win… Shane Richie’s Alfie Moon, who first appeared in 2002 topped the poll with 42% of votes.

1. Alfie Moon – 42%
2. Kat Slater – 36%
3. Nigel Bates – 34%
4. Grant Mitchell – 33%
5. Wellard the Dog – 30%
6. Peggy Mitchell – 29%
7. Arthur Fowler – 26%
8. Dot Cotton – 25%
9. Ethyl Skinner – 22%
10. Pat Butcher – 20%

The poll also asked “Who would you least like to share a takeaway with?”, with Janine Butcher topping the list of the soaps most hated, with nearly three quarters of you listing her as the least favourite character.

1. Janine Butcher – 73%
2. Dirty Den Watts – 65%
3. Trevor Morgan – 63%
4. Nasty Nick Cotton – 62%
5. Lucas Johnson– 58%
6. Archie Mitchell – 57%
7. Steve Owen – 53%
8. Ian Beale – 50%
9. Frank Butcher – 41%
10. James Wilmott-Brown – 39%

And just for kicks we couldn’t resist asking ”Who killed Archie Mitchell?”.

49% of you think Stacey Slater is the murderer, whilst 23% say Sean Slater was to blame. But you are wrong - it was the ghost of Ethel. We know the truth.
